National System Unification
I was deployed as the central design authority to unite the English and Welsh national Council Tax infrastructures weeks before a critical evaluation deadline. Operating within a highly volatile regulatory environment, I spearheaded the interaction architecture to merge disparate systems into a unified national framework capable of supporting the 2027/2028 Wales Revaluation and England High-Value Surcharge streams.
Permissions & Data Architecture
The core challenge lay in managing extreme backend data density and intricate access rules. I engineered a high-fidelity system prototype that successfully mapped out parallel, multi-layered permissions, state-driven user flows, and transactional dashboards. This architecture allowed diverse local authorities and national administrative bodies to securely interact with the central data engine while protecting sensitive user data schemas.
GDS Framework Governance
I steered the product design through high-pressure government Service Assessments, ensuring absolute adherence to the GOV.UK Design System. By baking rigid accessibility standards (WCAG compliance) and intuitive data-capture patterns directly into the core component and token library, I insulated the development pipeline against structural compliance delays and successfully secured critical project pass marks.
Strategic Alignment & Velocity
By translating ambiguous, non-deterministic database structures into clear component-based systems, I acted as a strategic peer to technical engineering and product leadership teams. This intervention eliminated design-to-engineering delivery friction, dramatically compressed development timelines, and earned excellent, glowing praise from senior HMRC stakeholders prior to the upcoming nationwide Beta implementation phase.
