Regulatory Interface Salvage & Compliance Interaction Architecture

Overhauling high-risk legacy entry paths and translating dense compliance criteria into accessible, secure digital data-capture systems under strict audit deadlines.

PROPRIETARY DATA & ACCESS GOVERNANCE NOTICE
To maintain absolute compliance with strict data security standards, commercial non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and proprietary financial data networks, live production links, high-resolution Figma boards, and secure data schemas are excluded from this public directory. Comprehensive architectural walkthroughs and sanitized interaction patterns can be formally presented under controlled, reciprocal confidentiality parameters during executive interview cycles.

Regulatory Interface Salvage

I was brought in to direct the interaction design overhaul for the Financial Conduct Authority’s core application portal during a period of intense regulatory and accessibility pressure. The legacy system relied on fragmented, non-compliant web forms that created massive user friction and data ingestion errors. Stepping in as a lead design authority, I audited the existing digital estate and engineered a strategic salvage plan to modernize the entire entry and exit architecture.

Compliance Interaction Architecture

The core challenge was translating dense, rigid regulatory criteria into intuitive, human-centered digital flows. I mapped out comprehensive step-by-step transaction paths that simplified the presentation of high-risk data-capture fields. By optimizing the information architecture and layout hierarchy, I drastically reduced user cognitive load while ensuring that the underlying database schemas collected completely clean, auditable financial records.

Accessibility & WCAG Governance

Operating under strict statutory guidelines, I embedded rigid web accessibility standards (WCAG compliance) directly into the interface infrastructure from first principles. I re-architected complex input components and error-handling states to guarantee a seamless experience for all users. This rigorous approach insulated the platform against legal compliance liabilities and successfully prepared the system to pass high-stakes national service assessments.

Cross-Functional Alignment

By defining clear component behaviours and design token rules, I acted as a critical bridge between legal compliance officers, product managers, and front-end engineering teams. This systematic alignment eliminated production debt, accelerated development velocity, and ensured that the final production-ready environment preserved complete design intent ahead of tight national enforcement deadlines.
